Overview
The Artisan Workshop is an industrial building of the Classical Age that drives production: it turns raw materials and effort into the goods, materials, and wealth that the rest of the city is built on.
As a Industrial structure, the Artisan Workshop belongs to the industrial side of the city. Introduced in the Classical Age, alongside marble and law.
Gameplay
Build cost. Raising the Artisan Workshop costs 60 Wood and 100 Stone. Plan the spend against your current stockpiles before you commit the plot.
Footprint. It occupies a 2x1 plot, so leave room on the map before you place it.
Height. The Artisan Workshop can rise to 2 floors, so its value is not only the footprint on the street but the vertical capacity you can stack above it.
Output. Once built it produces 1.1 Gold and 0.2 Knowledge each turn, feeding Gold and Knowledge into your economy.
Inputs. Each turn it consumes 1 Wood (Wood), so keep a supplier in range or its production stalls when the input runs dry.
Upkeep. It draws 1.5 Wood in upkeep every turn whether or not it is producing, so weigh the running cost against the benefit.
