Overview

Totem Circle is a civic landmark of the Stone Age that raises the standing of its district and projects services across the blocks around it.

It belongs to the early game, when the city is still finding its footing, so placing one signals that the district around it is ready to grow past simple subsistence.

Civic buildings like Totem Circle are sparse by design — a district usually wants one, sited where its service radius covers the most homes and workplaces.

Gameplay

The value of Totem Circle is in the Happiness and Knowledge it returns to the city; route that output toward the districts that are starved of it rather than the ones already satisfied.

Treat Totem Circle as a hub: cluster the homes and workplaces it serves around it instead of stranding it at the edge of the map where half its reach is wasted.

Watch upkeep as the city scales: when a newer tier unlocks, retiring an older Totem Circle in favour of it can free both the plot and the running cost for something denser.

Interior & support

The Civic Desk interior turns Totem Circle into a place you can walk through — the desk and waiting space show how the building processes the citizens it serves, and staffing it well keeps queues short.
